Metamorphosis

 11th September 2023
Metamorphosis, a first of its kind in MALTA landscape sculpture created by Atelier Chris Ebejer.

The three meters high public sculpture done in corten steel encapsulates concepts of life, freedom, and natural beauty. “During the design of this sculpture, the concept of transformation inspired me. Metamorphosis symbolizes life, joy, and freedom.” It is a landscape sculpture which is intended to become an integral part within the natural surroundings near the iconic cliffs and also intended to offer surreal moments by capturing the a dramatic effect of light and silhouette during the picturesque sunsets.

“Uscita dal suo laboratorio come figlia di una passione d’amore, la scultura adesso dialoga con la luce del Mediterraneo, sposandosi con l’aurora del mare d’Oriente e con i tramonti infuocati del mare d’ Africa.”

A title inspired from light as a source of hope in the dark, short days of winter; An allegory of the birth of Christ coming as a new light onto this world, instilling hope in the darkness. Hence this is a sacred art exhibition focused on the Nativity topic set in the relative festive season. Rather than focusing on one style, Ebejer gives us a taste of diversity reflective of his dynamic style, using and combining several materials and ideas.
